Urgent requirement for a contract Tester to work from home

An experienced Test Consultant we placed in a permanent role 5 years previously rang us to say she had recently started working on a new project for a utilities software house. They had just had a meeting with the client and the scope of the project needed to change increasing the amount of work that needed to be completed.

The timescales were fixed and they needed someone who could not only ‘hit the ground running’ but also liaise directly with the client stakeholders and work from home with occasional visits to client site.

It was absolutely key to engage someone with proven technical skills, the ability to work directly with clients (who were not particularly happy) and who could be relied on to get the job done.

Within 24 hours we had two candidates indentified and interviews had taken place. The client was happy that both candidates could do the work successfully and had a hard time picking which of the two would be offered the role.

The requirement was to scale the delivery team of professional testers quickly (16 people). There were a number of projects with a key client that needed resource. The brief was to recruit both technical tools based testers and manual QA people on a permanent basis. The company wanted to recruit on a permanent basis. We needed to find people who were client facing and happy to work on different client sites, ostensibly to work away from home during the week.

Within 3 months we had all the people they needed and fulfilled the requirement. After just 2 weeks trust and confidence was at a level where the client asked us ‘just to book interviews in’ they felt they didn’t need to see the CV’s before agreeing to meet the candidates.

A great result with a very happy client.
